Reflection T3W4: Cyber Addiction

Dear Cyber Kids,

I would like to share my personal experience on Cyber Addiction. For the past few weeks, I have been playing a game called “Waka-Waka”on the facebook, an improvised version of Pac-man. I have always enjoyed playing Pac-man since I was young. Soon, I was addicted to the game unknowingly.Negative behaviours such as spending too much time on the game and possessing the urge to play the game soon surfaced. My ultimate goal is to be the first on the score board. However after about a week, I realised that something was amiss. I wasn’t spending enough time with my family members. I began to reflect on the purpose of playing the game and how it has affected my daily routine. I came to understand the importance of having a balanced lifestyle and spending time with my family members. Now, I'll only play the game if I've completed my work and limit myself to at most 30 minutes of gaming every day.

That’s my story. What about yours? Share your experience on computer gaming and how you tried/ will be trying to overcome Cyber Addiction. Do make use of the following questions for your reflection.

What is your favourite computer game?

How many hours a day do you spend on playing computer games?

How has it affected your daily routine?

What can you do to prevent Cyber Addiction? What advice would you give to your friend who is a game addict?

Journal Writing T3W3 : Effects of Preventive Measures on Pupils

Hi Everyone,

Since we returned to school two weeks ago, we have to take our temperature twice a day. Some of the pupils could not return to school because they were on leave of absence. Some of our CCA and other activities have been cancelled or postponed. In this week's reflection, I would like you to discuss how all these have affected you.

I have listed some questions below to help you with your reflection:
1. What do you think of the school's preventive measures for H1N1 such as temperature-taking, no assembly in the hall, cancellation of remedial lessons, CCA and other activities?
2. Which activities have affected you?
3. How has the cancellation of these activities affect you in your learning?
4. Do you think the school is less interesting now? Why?
5. Are you relationship with your friends and teachers affected? If 'yes', in what way/s?
6. What do you do with the extra time you have now?
7. Are you activities outside school affected?

Stay healthy!

New Travel Declaration Form

Hi everyone,

I hope that all of you are healthy and well. School is reopening on Monday, 29 June. I have contacted all of you/your parents today and found out your travel history for the June Holidays. Do take note that a new Travel Declaration Form has been mailed to your home address. Please check your letterbox for it. (Let me know if you have not received by Friday) Your parents are required to fill up the new form. Do remember to bring the form and your digital thermometer on Monday. Don't forget to put them in your schoolbag!

When you reach school on Monday, there will be a visual check at the security point. For those of you are well, you will proceed to the classroom. For those who are unwell, you will be directed to the screening station. (If you are unwell, do see a doctor and stay at home.)

So, remember to bring these things on Monday.
(1) New Travel Declaration Form
(2) Thermometer
(3) Homework

Meanwhile, practise good personal hygiene.

Reflection on SA1 Performance

Hi Everyone,

The SA1 is over. Some of us have done well while others have not. For this week, I want you to reflect on your performance in this SA1. To help you do that, I will list some questions for you to ponder over:

1. Do you think you have done well in this semester? If 'Yes', what factors contribute to your success? If 'No', what factors contribute to your poor performance?
2. Do you think the remedial or enrichment classes in school were useful? If 'Yes', why? If 'No', why?
3. If you have home tuition (either by tutors/parents/relatives/etc), do you think this has been useful in improving your results? If 'Yes', why? If 'No', why?
4. What actions would you take to improve on your results after SA1?
5. What actions do you think the school should take to help you with your performance after the SA1?

Looking forward to hearing your sincere reflections...

Motivational Trip - East Coast Park

Hi everyone,

I hope you have enjoyed yesterday's trip to East Coast Park. Although it was raining at the beginning, I am glad that you did not let that dampen your spirit. If you carry on with that attitude, I am sure that all of you will do well for your PSLE. Meanwhile, do make use of this June holiday to revise your work so that you will be ready for the challenges ahead of you. Don't forget to have enough rest and play too. Take care of yourself! See you next term!

Here are the photos of the trip...enjoy! :)

Long-awaited photos of the Science Centre Trip

Hi everyone,

Remember our learning journey to the Science Centre on 28 April 2009 where we learned more about the ecosystem. It was raining that day so we could not go to the eco-pond to get samples of pond life. Nevertheless, Miss Hazel, the lab assistant brought up a pail of pond water which contained plenty of organisms for all of you to examine under the microscope. It was an enlightening experience, I must say! What did you like about the trip?

Here are the photos to jolt your memory...
